Fang Wang is a Chinese Language teacher working in the World Languages Department of a prestigious international school in Bangkok. As one of the early pioneers working for the IB programmes in China, Fang has been working in complex and diverse work environments with taking the different roles of being a teacher and an administrator. Fang holds the vision for inspiring and empowering Chinese educators to be change-makers when embracing the uncertainty and the challenges of the future world.

Developing an Authentic Theme-based Curriculum that Promotes Deep Conceptual Learning | 以深度概念性学习为目的的大主题课程单元创作 by Hua Ji

The Concept-based Authentic Themed Chinese Language Curriculum is a design framework with a more general perspective, it is suitable for Chinese course design of different school sections and language levels. The authentic themes that are meaningful to students and teachers and unit conceptual frameworks can promote students' deep conceptual learning.                                                                                                                                                                                                                              

概念性大主题课程单元创作方法是一种具有一定普遍意义的中文课程设计框架,适合不同学段和水平的中文课程设计。对学生老师有意义的大主题以及单元概念框架可促进学生的深度概念性学习。

Dr. Ji Hua has 18 years of experience in IBDP, teaching DP Mandarin courses at International School Manila. She is an IB workshop leader and has authored the book “IBDP Chinese B Authentic Theme-Based Unit Design 中文B 大主题单元创作”. 

吉华博士是马尼拉国际学校IB中文教师,IB培训官,有十八年教学经验,出版了《IB中文B大主题单元创作》。

Practical Practice for Reading in Chinese | 分级阅读的实际操练 by Judy Zhang

This presentation  will share some ideas and examples of teaching Chinese reading in a class with the mix of reading levels from A to G; it will give you some ideas on how to choose the shared reading texts, as well as its teaching and learning; it will also offer you some examples on how to design guided reading groups effectively, which caters to individual student needs and makes every student improve on the basis of their own level. Through this workshop, you will have a different perspective of teaching reading and have a deeper thinking about future planning.  The objectives of this presentation are: 
• Use reading assessment data to plan and arrange reading activities;
• consideration of individual differences;
• The practice of teaching reading.
工作坊目标:

1. 了解如何通过每位学生的阅读水平数据进行有效分组
2. 探索如何将集体分享阅读与分组阅读相结合,以适应每个学生的阅读水平

工作坊简介:本工作坊会向您展示一个班级阅读水平分布在A-G水平之间的阅读教学设计思路和实例;集体分享阅读的选择,以及它的教与学;如何有效地进行分组阅读教学,没有拔苗助长,也没有舍高就低,而是使得每一位学生都在自己的水平基础上进行提高。相信通过本次的工作坊,您将会对阅读教学有一个不同的认识和思考。"

 

Judy Zhang is in her third year as Dual Language Kindergarten teacher at International School of Beijing. Prior to teaching at ISB, Judy worked as  Chinese language teacher and a special education teacher at other international schools in Beijing. Judy has two daughters, and she loves to work out and cook healthy meals for her family. 

张玉岩,今年是她在ISB担任幼儿园双语教育工作的第三年。在此工作前,张玉岩在另外两所国际学校做过六年汉语教师和三年的特殊教育工作。她是两个女儿的妈妈,健身和为家人烹饪健康饮食是她一直努力坚持的。

Tailoring Teaching Materials with WORD Techniques | 用Word隐藏技巧量身打造教学材料 by Pamela Jiao 焦阳

International schools have relatively large teaching independence and freedom. Teachers can truly teach students by their aptitude, compile suitable teaching materials for students, and design corresponding teaching activities. However, a big practical problem faced by teachers is the lack of supporting teaching materials and teaching aids. Everything needs to be made by yourself, such as new vocabulary lists, vocabulary cards, worksheets, exercises, etc. Although the repeated operation of these simple machines is not difficult, it will consume a lot of valuable time for teachers. In response to this pain point, this workshop will instruct teachers to use Word to solve a series of common problems simply and rudely, including but not limited to:
1. Make hundreds of double-sided vocabulary cards in one minute (basic and advanced).
2. Do not draw a line to make the exercise of “filling in the blanks”.
3. Import the new words to Quizlet quickly.
4. Skillfully use Word templates to create exquisite teaching materials.
5. A powerful tool for making vocabulary lists-one-click conversion of Word text into tables.
6. Clipboard batch paste - say goodbye to "switching back and forth".    
                                                                                                           

国际学校有比较大的教学独立性和自由度,老师能真正做到因材施教,为学生编写适合的教材,设计相应的教学活动。但是,老师们面对的一大现实问题就是:缺乏配套的教学材料和教具,一切均需要自己制作,比如生词单、生词卡片、工作纸、练习题等等。这些简单机械的重复操作虽难度不大,但会消耗老师大量宝贵时间。针对这一痛点,本次工作坊将指导老师们利用Word简单粗暴解决一系列常见问题,包括但不仅限于:

1. 一分钟制作上百张双面生词卡片(基本与进阶)
2. 不画一条线 制作填空题
3. Quizlet快速批量导入生词 
4. 巧用Word 模板打造精美教学材料
5. 制作生词单利器——Word文本一键转换成表格
6.  剪贴板批量粘贴——跟“来回切换”说拜拜干货满满,简明易懂,包教包会,立竿见影。

 

Pamela Jiao completed her Master of Chinese Language and Literature Education in a Normal University and her Master of Arts in International Chinese Language Teaching from The Education University of Hong Kong. She has been teaching Chinese in Europe and Singapore for a few years. It is her fifth year of Mandarin teaching at Wellington College International Tianjin. She has in-depth research on the Office system and is good at preparing teaching materials efficiently. She published articles on several Chinese teaching We-Chat official accounts. She won the prize in the "Case Studies on International Chinese Teaching Writing Competition 2019", and her essay has been included and published in the portfolio. 

焦阳老师修读语文教育硕士、香港教育大学国际汉语教学文学硕士,曾在欧洲和新加坡从事汉语教学工作。今年是她在天津惠灵顿外籍人员子女学校担任中文教师的第五年。她对Office系统有深入研究,擅长高效准备教学材料。她在多个汉语公众号上发表文章。在“中小学国际汉语教学案例与分析征文比赛2019”获优胜奖,并有案例分析收录在作品集中。

Inquiry, Practice, Implementation--MYP language and  literature Integration Course | 探究、实践、落地——MYP语言与文学融合性课程 by Mu Lan 牟岚

This workshop will be based on the discussion of the nine-year compulsory education Chinese curriculum standards and the IB MYP language and literature guide, to discuss the integration methods and share the progress and achievements of my school.                              

本工作坊将基于探讨九年义务教育语文课程标准与IB MYP语言与文学课程大纲,进行融合方法的讨论,以及分享本校在该学科课程融合上的进展与成果。

 

Mu Lan has taught IBDP language and literature for 5 years and MYP language and  literature for 6 years. She has taken the role of overseeing integrated curriculum of the MYP language and literature course, the Chinese course of national compulsory education, as well as the connection of G1-12 courses at Times College.

5年IBDP语言与文学课程教学经验,6年MYP语言与文学课程教学经验,目前在校主要负责MYP语言与文学课程与国家义务教育语文课程的融合,以及G1-12的课程衔接。
